Your Start menu should be behaving itself now. If you want it looking like something else entirely, there are skins — the Ubuntu and Mac ones are still the most popular after all these years.
It's free, it always has been, and there's no upsell coming. If it's useful to you, that's the whole point. The source lives on GitHub if you ever want to poke around inside it.
If something's not right
The Discord is the best place to shout — it's quiet, but I read everything. Bugs are better raised as an issue on the relevant repo, where they won't get lost.
