I know what you mean, it shows it behind the menu or on top and its in the way when you click a item, it drives me nuts. there gots to be a way to have menu detect that tooltip window and get it to close. Lee might not have done it because in API the window header basicly is a dialog #32770 which if you have the menu close that dialog it might close other window applications that matches that. Which alot of window dialogs are #32770.

If you feel you can get by quite well without the new programs installed alerts, here are instructions for disabling them:

Right-click the Start button and then click "Properties" to open the "Taskbar and Start menu Properties" window.

Click the "Customize" button to open the "Customize Start Menu" window and then click the "Advanced" tab.

Remove the tick in the check-box labelled "Highlight newly installed programs".

Click "OK" to save the changes and exit the "Customize Start Menu" window.

Click "OK" again to exit the "Taskbar and Start menu Properties" window.

The "New programs installed" balloon should no longer appear after you install software, nor will new software items be highlighted in the start menu.

If you find you miss the "new software" alerts, you can easily enable them again by proceeding to step 3 above and placing a tick in the check box labelled "Highlight newly installed programs".
